Southern vegetables enter Beijing market, prices drop

Recently, batches of southern vegetables started to enter the market in Beijing. In the middle of November vegetable prices rose fast due to bad weather circumstances. But soon prices started to drop back down gradually.

Especially white cabbage, white radish and other main vegetable prices started to decline compared with last week. For example, the Chinese cabbage wholesale price is 0.31 Yuan, a decline of 60% compared with last week. The white cabbage price is 0.85 Yuan, a decline of 50%.

This week, the vegetable prices dropped all the way down. A lot of southern vegetable varieties enter the Beijing market. A second reason for the price drop is that earlier vegetable transport trucks were stranded on highways. Causing large quantities of vegetables enter the market at this moment, leading prices to drop rapidly.
