S. African Table Grape Industry:

New Technical and Market Access Manager announced

The South African Table Grape Industry has announced the appointment of Mr Dawie Moelich who joined SATI on the 1st December 2015 as the new Technical and Market Access Manager. Dawie started his agricultural career in 1986, at the Du Toit Group in the Koue Bokkeveld area, before moving on to Capespan’s Technology Department as a Researcher. Since 2008 Dawie has been in the employment of ExperiCo Fruit Technology Solutions as a Specialist in Physiology and Packaging.

Dawie has extensive experience in research and development of post-harvest handling of fruit. He has also been involved in postharvest handling and optimisation of the export cold chain for contracted clients in South Africa (pome, stonefruit and table grapes) and North Africa (table grapes). Dawie has travelled to several international fruit distribution hubs to investigate fruit quality, packaging, new technologies and cold chain related matters.

Dawie holds a Master’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Stellenbosch and a Diploma in Packaging Technology. He was also selected as an external examiner of the Master of Science theses for the University of Stellebosch, an external assessor of industry research programmes and is an inventor and co-inventor of two packaging related patents.
