Russian fruit and veg production up 50%

The Russian frozen fruit and vegetable market has undergone some changes in 2015. In May 2015 the fruit and vegetable product output reached 15,700 tons. The output increased by more than 50% compared with the same period last year.

Not only the production amount changed, the product import and export structure also changed. Early 2015, the import amount of frozen fruit and vegetables dropped by nearly 30%. China is the largest source of imports, while a year ago Polish products had a leading position.

The amount of export also appears to have declined. In 2014, the export amount increased by 12%. In the first quarter of 2015 the export amount and value decreased by 20%. The majority (28 %) of Russia's frozen fruit and vegetables are exported to China.
