Spain: Average price of vegetables above 0.70 Euro per kilo
The average price for Almeria's whole range of horticultural products currently stands above the 0.70 Euro/kilo. Tomatoes, which reached very low prices at the beginning of the campaign, have seen a great increase in their value. Traders note that this month is one of the best of the year, despite the approaching Christmas holidays and interruptions of exports.
Red bell pepper prices reach between 0.74 and 0.88 Euro/kilo; green bell peppers oscillate between 0.70 and 0.85 Euro/kilo and the yellow variety has initial prices of 0.88 Euro/kilo and final sales at 0.74 Euro/kilo. Red Lamuyo peppers have initial prices of 0.93 Euro/kilo and final sales at 0.65 Euro/kilo, while green Lamuyo prices stand at 0.70 to 0.86 Euro/kilo. Green Italian peppers still oscillate between 0.88 and 1.10 Euro/kilo.
Vine tomatoes have increased in value, with initial prices of 1.10 Euro and final sales at around 0.90 Euro/kilo. Pear tomatoes stand at 0.80 to 0.97 Euro/kilo and long life tomatoes are being sold for 0.75 to 1.05 Euro/kilo.
Courgettes have reached their highest prices so far in the campaign, surpassing the 2 Euro per kilo. Both the fine and thick varieties reach initial prices of 2.18 Euro and final auction sales at around 1.75 Euro/kilo. Aubergine prices also surpass the 2 Euro/kilo; in the case of the striped variety, they oscillate between 2 and 2.18 Euro, while long aubergines stand at 1.70 to 1.80 Euro/kilo.
Long cucumber prices remain at high levels of between 0.74 and 0.90 Euro/kilo. French cucumbers have initial prices of 0.70 Euro and final sales at 0.55 Euro/kilo, while short black cucumbers oscillate between 0.80 and 1 Euro/kilo.
Green beans have also increased in value during the past week. Long Perona beans reached an average price of 3.30 Euro, the Emerite registered an average of 2.70 Euro, the Strike reached 3.10 Euro and the Helda is being sold for prices of between 2.30 and 2.50 Euro/kilo.
