Argentina-Official Fruit Logistica 2014 partner country

Argentina has a long tradition of producing top-quality food products. The country offers a wide variety of natural resources, plenty of irrigation water and abundant arable land. Thanks to its diverse soils and climates, Argentina is known around the world for its favourable conditions for growing high-quality fruits and vegetables.

The fresh produce sector's productivity and economic significance is reflected in product sales and its influence on the different segments of the supply chain. It is also reflected in the generation of revenue and the inflow of foreign currency. Fruit and vegetables are among Argentina's most important exports, ahead of the many traditional products for which the country is known. As one of the largest growers of fruits and vegetables in the southern Hemisphere, Argentina exports a wide range of products to more than 100 countries. In the last few years, the country's export earnings rose to USD 1.7 billion. This number illustrates Argentina's growing significance as a grower and exporter in the international fresh produce sector.

With its expanse of fertile land and geographic location, Argentina currently exports 1.9 million tonnes of fruits and vegetables annually. In line with an increase in the overall level of prosperity in Latin America, the fresh produce sector reported an annual growth rate of 11.2% over the past 10 years. With a share of 32%, Europe remains Argentina's most important export trade partner, followed by Brazil (28%), Russia (11%), and the USA (7%). In the last five years, demand has also increased in Asia and North Africa.

Argentina has been officially represented as an exhibitor at Fruit Logistica since 2000. The Argentinean pavilion is organized by the FundaciĆ³n ExportAr and the CFI (Consejo Federal de Inversiones), and brings together more than 50 exporters on 840 square metres of exhibition space.
