Roberto Latorre, C. Gottmann:

"Difficult sales of Brazilian grapes due to available European product"

The sales of Brazilian grapes is difficult at the moment due to the availability of Greek and Italian products. "They have a different price make up than the overseas grapes and there are a number of retailers who indicate that they can work with the quality of the European grapes," says Roberto Latorre of trading company C. Gottman, the exclusive market of the Brazilian producer Vale do Sol (VDS) in Holland.

Gottmann supplies the varieties Thompson, Sugraone and Midnight Beauty. "It is expected that there will be Greek grapes until mid November and South Africa will be on the market in week 50. This makes the 'window' for the Brazilian season a lot smaller than last year, when the grapes entered an empty market," says Roberto. "It is certainly noticeable, even though less grapes were sent to Europe."
