Delay of eco tax in France

Due to the heavily increasing resistance and pressure in France against the kilometre tax set to be introduced on the 1st of January 2014, the French minister of Traffic Jean Marc Ayrault has decided to delay it until further notice.

Protests

This resistance is especially strong in Brittany. It recently expressed itself in heavy protests against the plans to introduce this eco tax for all vehicles with a maximum total weight of 3.5 tonnes.

Crisis

Brittany is a region that has already been heavily affected by the current crisis and it is expected that this tax will mean that even more companies will no longer be able to stay afloat.
