Giving a signal with fair trade

New Fairglobe products at Lidl Austria

Sustainability is important for Lidl Austria. This is why they are so happy to have Fairtrade certified product in their assortment. The Fairtrade products can be found in various product groups under the 'Fairglobe' quality brand. The 'Fairglobe' assortment is continually expanded. Since the start of October Fairtrade chocolate and cashew nuts have been available at the company, whose main office is in Salzburg.

Fairtrade stands for fair trade with developing countries. Thanks to the Fairtrade standard the members of the certified Fairtrade cooperations and plantations produce under socially acceptable working conditions. By paying set Fairtrade minimum prices and Fairtrade premiums for social cases, infrastructure and development, they can form their future themselves and are sustainably assured of an income. Foods that are supplied under the quality brand 'Fairglobe' are certified with the independent Fairtrade brand. In offering this, Lidl Austria supports fair trading and sustainably produced products from developing countries.

"Recognised brands mean transparency and help the consumer do their daily purchases. Fairtrade guarantees a sustainable production and honest trade. We believe it's important that the people in the countries of origin can produce under certain circumstances. This is why we're happy with the partnership with Fairtrade,"emphasises Alexander Deopito, CEO of Lidl Austria.
