UK: Heavy rain causing choas on roads

The UK has been suffering heavy rainfall for the last couple of days, this is causing flooding on many roads and disruption to rail services.

The worst hit areas seem to be the south west of England, but flooding is also causing road closures as far as the midlands and in Scotland high winds together with the rain are causing problems.

Met Office expects more rain and the Environment Agency has issued 189 flood alerts and 30 flood warnings.

The fresh produce industry has suffered this year from dull weather causing low yields and too much rain which made harvesting very challenging. It is possible that the road conditions will hamper efforts to get this produce to the consumers for Christmas.
