Germany: IPM: first snack vegetables and fruit under novelties
Growing and harvesting vegetables and fruit on your balcony or terrace is 'in'. Increasingly more people are enthusiastic about the beauty and culinary enjoyment of these versatile functional plants which are taking over the market and are known as 'snack vegetables and fruit'. That is why the international plant conference IPM in Essen will offer a prize from 2013 on for novelties in this category.
Alongside the eight current prize categories; cut flowers, green indoor plants, blooming indoor plants, shrubs, spring bloomers, bedding and balcony plants, perennials and container plants, now have the opportunity to qualify for the special prize in the category of 'snack fruit and vegetable for balcony and terrace'. The jury will pay careful attention to the versatility and ornamental value. A condition here is that the novelty has not previously been presented at a German convention.
