Spain: Fruta Si! The fruit to take away

Stadium Innovation presents its new design for unsweetened fruit compotes: a small 90 gram bottle to take anywhere.

Stadium Innovation, distributor of Charles Faraud and Charles & Alice, was the first firm to introduce fruit compotes into the market, in the year 2007. After lots of experience and an increase in sales, they have released a new design for their 90 gram bottles; a practical and fun container that can be taken anywhere: to school, to the park, etc., and can be consumed any time of the day, for breakfast, as a snack or for dessert. 100% fruit, no sugar added and fat free. A healthy snack!

The product changed its name from Fruta’n Pack to Fruta Si! "We believe that Fruta Si! is more attractive for customers," says Isabel Molano, of Stadium Innovation's marketing department. The product is now available in three flavours: Apple-Strawberry, Apple-Banana and Apple.

"We were interested in a container that could stand straight for better storage and display to customers," explains Isabel. "The container now also looks more fun than before, because the fruits are shown playing with one another."

Besides the name and the container's ergonomics, they have also introduced new bottle caps that are better adapted to children's needs.

"We have also improved our container with a bigger bottle cap, adapted to the small hands of children. It is easier to open and close, without risk for children to swallow it. The bottle caps are designed in three nice colours to differentiate each flavour clearly."

The supermarket chain Mercadona launched this product a few months ago under their own store brand with three flavours, and recently they added a fourth: pineapple flavour. Isabel affirms that "if a supermarket like Mercadona launches our product and adds a new flavour a few months later, changing the display cabinet from cardboard to metal, it means the product is being greatly successful."

More supermarkets now want to have the product on their shelves. The last one was Eroski. "Without a doubt, Fruta Si! is the product that has most increased our sales volume," affirms Isabel. "We have invested heavily in this product, which is a sign of our full confidence in it."

"The next step will be to design a display cabinet for its sale in individual units in supermarkets, as right now they are sold in packs of 4. The recommended price of these packs of 4 is 2.40 Euro and the price for the future individual container will be around 70 cents," she concluded.
