Tight supply of lettuce pushes prices in Germany up

A low supply of lettuce is causing increases in price on the German markets. Despite the greatly decreased supply the German lettuce is still holding the market up. The prices of it have increased to €55 per 100 kilos. The market is being supplemented with Belgian and, to a lesser extent, Dutch lettuce.

Although the supply of Dutch and Germany iceberg lettuce is shrinking, that of the Spanish iceberg lettuce is increasing. Despite this the market remains tight and the price level of Spanish lettuce increased to €68 per 100 kilos.
