Peter Maes, Zeghers:
"Belgium: "Spanish citrus market still quite calm"
The Argentinian lemon season is finished. "The transitional period has gone pretty well and the market is quite calm at the moment," says Peter Maes of Zeghers N.V. "On the whole the Spanish market season has started carefully. Last week we were at the fair in Madrid and that was positive, although Spain had some trouble with the colour of the leaf manderins. They remained green for a long time. Some volumes of citrus are slowly selling, there's no rush yet."

"The lemon prices have had a bit of a blow," continues the importer. "But they're stable at the moment and are between 1.10 and 1.30 Euro. I expect the market to slowly pull up soon. I hope the prices remain at this level, but we'll have to wait and see."
