The event memorialized the donation of 27 million dollars by the Washington Tree Fruit Industry to WSU. A portion of the funds are allocated for the establishment of the Sunshine Research Orchard, near Rock Island, WA. The University distinguished C&O Nursery as a Benefactor to the College of Agriculture for its donation of $100,000.00 worth of trees, all of which went to the Sunshine Research Orchard.

Sunrise Orchard utilizes the latest research, growing and technologically advanced systems and applications for the tree fruit industry.
