Nathalie Sebrechts, Sebrechts wholesaler:

"Belgium: "French kiwi berries lovely and soft"

Wholesale company Sebrechts sell a complete assortment fruit and vegetables at the wholesale market in Antwerp. "One of our distinctive points is that we offer many different brands," Nathalie Sebrechts explains. "As a result we are really exclusive. An example is our kiwi brand 'Clean Kiwi'. In Antwerp we have been the only company offering this brand for a period of 15 years."

"The green and yellow kiwis are part of 'Clean Kiwi' and are marketed under the name of 'Kiwai'. The kiwis and the kiwi berries have all been grown without pesticides. The French season has just started and we are positive about this. The quality of the 'Clean Kiwi' is better than others and clients have already been asking when we will have them in the assortment again."

"The kiwi berries are becoming more and more popular. They have been here now for some years and demand increases every season. The taste of the French ones is lovely and sweet. After cooling they can be kept for about two weeks."

"At the moment Moroccan melons are also in demand. We deal in the exclusive brand Toquade. These are very tasty and the sugar content is higher than with other charantais melons. At the moment sizes 12 and 15 are in the assortment. The Toquade melons are packed nicely. Clients of course also buy by sight."
