EU: New list of aromatic substances will appear next spring

The European commission wants to make the use of aromatic substances in foods safer and more transparent. According to information from the European commission, only aromatic substances that have been added to the new EU list of allowed substances will be allowed to be used in the food industry. At the moment there are 2100 substances on the list. Another 400 substances are being researched at the moment. "With the new regulations the consumers as well as the industry will be better informed in the future," said John Dalli, Health Commissioner of the EU. The full list will appear next spring.
