ASDA rolls back transport costs with Paragon
Paragon's innovative Multi Depot software is used strategically by ASDA, part of the Wal-Mart family of companies, to precisely plan delivery routes and vehicle use across its 22 depots. Boosting transport efficiency in this way enables ASDA to reduce road miles through improved use of its 1,000+ fleet of tractor units and 1,600 trailer units.
“Paragon is our strategic tool of choice for reviewing and modelling best routes. It will also help us to maximise the use of our time. With the efficiencies we will gain from using the system, we are able to minimise capital expenditure through better use of our fleet and driver availability,” says Liam Fletcher, ASDA's Network Efficiency Manager. “In short, we are able to do more with our existing resources and the savings we will make, which range from 5 to 10 per cent of fleet costs, are ploughed back into the business to reduce the cost of products to our customers.”
Customers are not the only beneficiaries of the efficiencies ASDA will generate through its use of Paragon: the environment gains too. “We are maximising our use of our fleet capability,” explains Liam, “and that results in reducing fuel usage and vehicle emissions.”
