UK prefers clamshell over shaker

The shaker has become a familiar item on store shelves. The handy cups with mini tomatoes, mini cucumbers and snack-sized paprika enjoy great popularity in Holland, Belgium, Germany and Scandinavia.

Still, there are countries that aren’t enamoured to the shaker. In the UK for instance, the product won’t easily be found in supermarkets. The British seem to prefer another type of wrapping, the clamshell fruit packaging.

Whatever the packing may be, both in Britain and on the Mainland there is an increasing demand for fruit and vegetable snacks. The trend has in fact inaugurated a whole new generation of packaging machines, bringing the times when shakers and clamshells had to be filled by hand to an end.
