Red apples came second in terms of total exported volumes with 36,701,205 boxes, that is, 12.31% less than what was shipped during the previous campaign, when 41,855,235 boxes were shipped.
Blueberries are the third most exported fruit. During the 2011-2012 season, a total of 23,384,785 boxes of these berries were exported, which shows a 2.16% increase compared to last season's figures, which reached 22,891,445 boxes.
In fourth place are kiwis, with 22,573,703 shipped boxes, a figure showing an 11.03% increase compared to the 2010-2011 season. Finally, in fifth place, we find cherries, with a total14,633,458 shipped boxes, which means a 26.56% growth compared to the previous campaign.
Destinations
The main destination market for grapes is the United States, with 33,335,277 exported boxes to the East Coast and 10,343,593 boxes to the West Coast. The US is followed by Europe with 28,580,143 boxes of fresh grapes and the Far East with 20,032,871 boxes.
Blueberries are mainly being shipped to the United States, with 11,582,102 exported boxes to the East Coast and 4,757,759 shipped to the West Coast.
Meanwhile, for kiwis, Europe is the place where this Chilean fruit is most popular. This season the Old Continent has received 10,961,967 boxes, followed by Latin America, with 3,732,554 boxes and the United States, with 1,783,701 boxes.
Finally, cherries have their main market in the Far East with 9,285,135 boxes, followed by the East Coast in the US, with 2,167,944 boxes and Europe with 1,388,341 boxes.
