A lot of interest for new Syngenta vine tomato varieties

The commercial introductions of two vine tomato varieties, Climstar and Clodano, and a number of interesting developments in the speciality segment, were enough reasons last Thursday to visit Syngenta's demo day. With over 80 varieties there was enough to see and talk about at the Trial Tomato Demohouse which was located for the second time this year at grower Bart Zwinkels company in Monster.

What was striking this year was the introduction of the vine tomatoes Clodano and Climstar. The two varieties have made such an impression in a number of practical tests, that they will be commercially marketed this year with a lot of confidence. Syngenta, market leader in the Speciality segment, wants to play a more prominent role among tomato growers.

Test coordinator Arthur van Marrewijk gave an explanation with Remco Bross on the new developments. In this the vine tomatoes and trusted varieties as well as a number of striking specialities were discussed.
