Globus doubles turnover former Real-supemarkets

The German department store chain Globus took over an establishment of supermarket chain Real in Kaiserslautern some time ago. Since that time Globus have doubled the turnover of the establishment. For that investment, however, 10 to 15 million Euro was required. For the former Real-supermarkets in Hockenheim and Wiesbaden-Nordenstadt Globus have set out for the same growth in turnover.

Globus is putting a great effort into the gradual take-over of eleven former Real-supermarkets. In both Kaiserslautern, Hockenheim and Wiesbaden-Nordenstadt between 10 and 15 million Euro will be invested. "What we found partly did not belong to this period's shopping," Globus director Thomas Bruch said to the German trade journal "Lebensmittel Zeitung'. Globus will fit out all shops with amongst others fresh- and cheese counters and build butchery departments with its own production. In Kaiserslautern the turnover, thanks to those measures, already doubled in the meantime. But also in Hockenheim it looks as if the same kind of increase in turnover will be achieved in the meantime, as per a spokesman of Globus. After that Wiesbaden must follow as well.

The total turnover of Globus increased in book year 2011/2012 by 4.5% to
6.46 billion Euro
