Co-op Italia forecasts growth

Coop Italia president, Vicenzo Tassinari, has forecast that sales for Coop Italia for the year will increase by 1% to €13.2 billion. Tassinari made the comment for the financial year ending 31 December 2012, adding that Coop Italia has not felt the brunt of the economic crisis. The first eight months of the year have delivered sales growth of 1.1 per cent.

The Italian co-operative grocery retailer plans to open 71 new stores, 62 supermarkets and nine hypermarkets, between now and 2014, with an investment plan of over €400 million.
