US (CA): Exports slow on good domestic prices

Deciduous tree fruits, nuts and grapes: Peaches, nectarines and plums continue to mature, and are being harvested. Fruit quality remains good. Shipments of stone fruit destined for foreign markets continue at a much slower rate than last year, primarily because of good domestic prices. Stone fruit is being exported to Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Mexico, New Zealand and Taiwan. Pomegranates and persimmons continue to increase in size and color. Grapes continue to be harvested. Table grape varieties are being shipped to New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, Taiwan and Thailand. Raisin grapes are being cut and laid down on trays to dry. Apple harvest has started, and early exports are going to Mexico. Almonds, pistachios and walnuts continue to develop. Almonds are being harvested.

Citrus, avocados and olives: Valencia oranges continue to be picked, packed and shipped, primarily to domestic markets. Export of Valencia oranges to foreign countries are slow, but include: China, Hong Kong, and Mexico. Some specialty citrus such as Finger Limes and Citrons are starting to be picked for local markets. Olives continue to mature and fruit size is increasing.

Vegetables, melons and berries: Eggplants, cucumbers, peppers, summer squash, tomatoes and other vegetables continue to be harvested. Summer produce continues to be available at local farmers’ markets and roadside stands.
