Rijk Zwaan aims to inspire in Asia

Vegetable breeder Rijk Zwaan is once again exhibiting at the Asia Fruit Logistica trade show in Hong Kong (5-7 September 2012). Just like at last year’s event, the company will be presenting a wide range of vegetable varieties and concepts, including its ‘social salad network’ Lovemysalad.com.

In February, Lovemysalad.com was runner-up for the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award, the prestigious innovation prize awarded at the Fruit Logistica fair in Berlin. Rijk Zwaan initiated the Love my Salad network as a platform for working together with all sections of the vegetable supply chain, including consumers, in order to help raise global vegetable consumption levels.

Innovative vegetable dishes

One of the driving forces behind Love my Salad is the fact that salads and vegetables offer a wealth of opportunities – and that is exactly what the company will be demonstrating at Asia Fruit Logistica. During the 3-day event, three top chefs will be presenting inspirational dishes prepared from Rijk Zwaan vegetables, including a Salanova butterhead smoothie and salads with a twist featuring the company’s delicious melon concepts, Mellissimo and Caribbean. Visitors will be able to get involved with Lovemysalad.com right there on the Rijk Zwaan stand by ‘liking’ the Facebook page or contributing their own comments or ideas to the social salad network.

Novel tomato specialties
Rijk Zwaan will also be presenting a number of new varieties and concepts at the show. One novelty will be the Crunchita concept: a new type of lettuce with the long, uniform leaves of cos and the crunchiness of iceberg lettuce. Other highlights will include several new tomato varieties in all shapes and sizes, ranging from mini san marzano, coeur de boeuf and blocky mini plum to a pink cocktail tomato.

Rijk Zwaan will be exhibiting at Asia Fruit Logistica on stand B14 in Hall 1.
