Lower Saxony expect average potato harvest

At the Lüneburger Heide in the German federal state of Lower Saxony agriculturists have started the potato harvest. From an enquiry of the German Landvolk-Pressedienst it appears that after a satisfying early potato season the expectations of the middle-early to late varieties are also not bad now.

The growers, however, do not expect top harvests, but an average harvest in any case. Also for the development of the sales the growers expect positive impulses, because the harvest expectations in the neighbouring countries, the Netherlands and Belgium, are not too high.

The area of consumption potatoes in the potato federal state of Lower Saxony has just about remained the same at 31,837 hectare compared to last year.
