Germany: Large courgette harvest

Due to the high temperatures in the last few days, the quantities of harvested courgettes exploded. The prices, already at a low levels, according to information from the German Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (AMI) fell further.

At the German wholesalers, average prices in the middle of week 34 were at times between 50 and 80 cents per kilo and thus to a large extent still above the offer price of the food trade.

The producer prices in week 35 dropped to 35-45 cents per pound. A relaxation of the market seems for the time being is not in sight, because even if it cools slightly, the ideal growing conditions will remain and harvest quantities will be high.
