Higher prices possible with blue berries

The prices of blue berries went well in week 32. According to the German Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (AMI) the numerous special offers in the German gorcery shops are helping create a good demand.

Since the supply hasn't developed as expected, the blueberries were in demand for the special offers. In week 33 harvesting volumes were at about the same level as in week 32, but due to the current high temperatures blueberries are ripening faster now. For deliveries to the food trade in week 33 surcharges were to be expected. This is also reflected in the current offers in the food trade. Therefor the discounted prices are almost in all cases higher than last week.

In the wholesale trade the blueberries initially developed differently halfway through week 33. Where clearance was possible, there are firmer prices. For wholesalers with a sustained supply pressure pricing is even more flexible, although even here they are trying to raise prices.
