US: Homegrown Organic Farms announces new sales category manager

Homegrown Organic Farms, one of the premier organic fresh produce marketers in the United States, is excited to announce Craig Morris as a new member of the Homegrown team. Morris was recently hired and is now operating as the Citrus Category Manager. Scott Mabs, Homegrown Organic Farms Director of Marketing, is thrilled to have Craig on board and believes his drive and experience will be a great addition to the Homegrown team.

Morris comes from an extremely diverse background in the agriculture industry beginning his informal agriculture education by working on his family’s citrus ranches and raising livestock for 4-H and FFA. Early in his career he worked at Gillespie Ag Services and interned at Harvest Container. Morris received his B.S. degree in Agriculture Business from Fresno State University after transferring from College of the Sequoias. Shortly after graduating he started his professional career with The Kroger Co. as a Buyer/Inspector. He was able to travel throughout the West’s growing regions for 5 years, inspecting and procuring fruits and vegetables for the company’s grocery stores.

In 1995, Morris accepted a sales position with one of California’s largest citrus grower/packer/shippers, LoBue Bros, Inc. After 15 years at LoBue, he left his position as sales manager to explore new opportunities. He was hired by Pro Citrus Network (PCN) as the Director of New Business Development. PCN’s multifaceted structure as a marketer/grower/importer offered great new challenges and the opportunity for Morris to develop new relationships across the country.

Morris said, "My professional career has been centered around the buying and selling of conventional produce. However, organic produce is unique in that even in our economy’s weakened state, the demand for fresh, organic fruit continues to grow. In regards to the company, the principles of Homegrown, and specifically John France and Tom Avinelis, have built a unique culture within the company based on their steadfast foundation of beliefs, values, and stewardship. I am truly excited and honored to be a part of the Homegrown team."

Craig will be transitioning with Seth Tillery who currently holds the position. Seth will be taking on the roll of Regional Grower and Operations Manager for the San Joaquin Valley. Both of these are exciting changes for Homegrown’s team and growers.
