Peru: Expoalimentaria 2012 to generate $US 500 million in business
In its fourth edition, the "Expoalimentaria 2012" Fair could generate business deals worth over US$500 million, informed ADEX'S General Manager, Patricia Fernán-Zegarra Miranda, during an informative press conference about the event, which has gained international recognition.
The Fair, organised by ADEX with valuable support from PromPerú, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture, will be held from 19 to 21 September and will leave its traditional venue of San Borja, Peru, for a new one at the Air Force base "Las Palmas", located in the Surco district of Lima, in an area of 20,500 square metres. "Expoalimentaria 2012" will serve as showroom for agricultural products, agribusiness and fisheries, as well as for supplies, equipment, machinery and packaging for the food processing industry.
"To date over 85% of the stands have been sold, so we encourage those who have not booked one yet to do so," she said. During the press conference, which was attended by ADEX's President, Juan Varilias Velásquez; the Foreign Trade and Tourism minister, José Silva Martinot; and the ambassador, Jaime Pomareda Montenegro, Fernán-Zegarra informed that Expoalimentaria will count with the presence of 592 exhibitors, of which 442 will be national. Entrepreneurs come from places such as Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Loreto, Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Arequipa, Tacna, among others.
Meanwhile, 150 stands will be booked by international exhibitors from Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico, the Netherlands, Spain, Colombia, Bolivia, Italy, France, Switzerland, and others.
