"Netherlands: "Avocado market at the same level all summer"
The avocado market has stayed at the same level throughout the holiday period. According to an importer, there is currently a normal demand. "We have had easy sales this summer. Although, it is also true that there was a shortage of smaller sizes. These are currently delayed. The prices are at a good level. The green avocado's from South-Africa are between the 7 and 8 Euro."
Hass-avocado's
"Hass-avocados are currently coming from South Africa, Peru and Kenya. The Kenyan Hass is especially popular with the French. The Peruvian Hass is between 5 and 7 Euro depending on quality and size. The South African Hass is between 5.6 and 8 Euro. The importer personally prefers buying the South African avocados. "I think that these are more reliable than the Peruvian. There are many more sellers in Peru and it takes some searching for good quality. There are definitely good ones, but there are a lot of providers who offer products of a lesser quality. You really need to know who you are importing your avocado's from."
According to the importer, the difference between the price of small and large avocado's barely differs. He expects the demand to increase in the near future. "The holiday period is pretty much over and the demand always increases again. Especially the French market is expected to have increased demand in the next two weeks. It's possible that the prices will also increase as the demand rises."
