Hortiplan builds its second mobile gutter system in Chili
After building the first mobile gutter installation, Hortiplan was able to expand this year at Hidroponicos La Cruz. Hidroponicos La Cruz started growing lettuce in a mobile gutter system (MGS) from Hortiplan in 2011. The first project had an acreage of almost 7000 m2. Due to the excellent reception of the product on store shelves, the company decided to double its MGS-area to almost 14,000 m2.
After a quick building process the first lettuce was harvested in the newly built area last week. Hidroponicos La Cruz brands its product under the name Pura Hoja (www.purahoja.com). The company primarily grows butter-head lettuce, green and red oak leaf salad, lollo rossa and lollo bionda.
