Europe: Advance of longer and heavier transport combinations

Longer and heavier truck combinations are seen more and more often on the Dutch highways. Several transport companies use them.

Longer and heavier transport combinations can transport twice as much, which is beneficial, also for the environment. They can’t cross the border though and are restricted to certain roads. Actually they are devised for transport between industrial areas, but also transport for supermarkets is being carried out. Brussels wants to relax the rules.

There is also the B-Double City longer and heavier transport combination. In this transport combination one truck pulls two trailers one of which one can be uncoupled to enter a city to be collected later.
