Peter Veenman of Valstar Holland:

Netherlands: Pepper season a lot better than last year

According to Peter Veenman of Valstar Holland the pepper season is going better than expected. "The sales are definitely going faster than last year and this has been going on all season. The supply is slightly lower, but the demand is much better. There has been a good demand from the UK and Germany all season."

The price of the red peppers is at a level around 4 Euro per kilo at the moment. The kilo price of green peppers is around 2/2.50 Euro. "We have red peppers of quite good quality. The price of the green peppers is remaining fairly stable. The prices of the red peppers has gone down a little, but I expect them to remain at an acceptable level", says Peter. Valstar Holland also supplies special pepper varieties, such as the Habanero and JalapeƱo. These pepper varieties can, separately, be supplied in various packaging.
