Russian greenhouse vegetable cultivation estimated at 1.2 million tons

70% of all vegetables in Russia homegrown

The total capacity of the Russian greenhouse vegetable cultivation is estimated at 1.2 million tons. Last year the yield of the greenhouse cultivation in Russia amounted to 700,000 tons, 28% more than in 2010. The Russian tomatoes have a share of 18% of the total vegetable volume in the country, cucumbers 10%.

70% of all vegetables are grown in households, and only 30% in big agrarian companies. The total vegetable volume of greenhouses and arable land together, amounted to 14 million tons (excluding 28 million of potatoes), 32% more than in 2010.
