UK: Trood to give Mack Multiples wings

Nigel Trood, former managing director at Red Bull, will be joining Mack Multiple's senior management team and taking over from David Lloyd as managing
director at Mack Multiples.

Trood is an acknowledged strong, capable leader, his fresh produce credentials are strong thanks to some 12 years spent at Sainsbury’s, (1988-1999), beginning as a junior buyer and progressing quickly to category manager.

An interest in ethical business and international development led Nigel to take a non-executive director role with Global Ethics, a not-for-profit ethical goods company that funds clean water, health and sanitation projects in Africa. He will continue this in addition to his work with Fresca.

Speaking about this exciting new chapter for the company, chairman and chief executive of Fresca Group, Chris Mack said: “This new appointment is likely to have far-reaching positive influence on our business and its performance. I am very pleased to welcome Nigel to Fresca and look forward to seeing what his expertise and drive can achieve. I also want to ensure that there’s acknowledgement of the longstanding commitment and huge contribution that David Lloyd brought to our
business.”

David was a key part of the Mack Multiples story for twenty years. He joined the company as finance director and after time in operations and commercial departments, he became managing director in 2006.

Chris Mack has also announced today that Ian Craig, managing director at Thanet Earth Marketing Ltd and main board member of Fresca Group Ltd, has been appointed deputy group chief executive. He will remain in his role at Thanet Earth.

The largest part of Fresca Group Ltd, Mack Multiples is based at Paddock Wood in Kent, with some operations at the group’s Lincolnshire and Evesham sites. Nigel will also take responsibility for two other Fresca businesses, MMG Citrus and DGM Growers.

The combined sales of fruit and veg across these companies amount
to some £250m each year.
