Spain: Rise of the flat peach

For several years now sales of flat peach are growing. Many clients want to taste the ‘Paraguayos’. In Spain this tendency is known and they want to cultivate more.

There is also a tendency of replacement of peach for nectarine as this fruit is seen as being easier to consume.

Spring was late in Spain and there was a bad spring in the north of Europe. This is the cause of lower sales, but this is not the only reason. Also the oversupply of all takes part in this and this counts actually for the whole European market.

As the east European countries start to produce themselves, the south European counries can come in trouble. There will have to take place a reorganization that seems to take place already as some companies can’t survive, having low incomes.
