Argentine peanut crop update July 25, 2012

The peanut harvest has come to its end throughout the southern, southwestern region of the central peanut area of Argentina, which includes northern of La Pampa and southern, southeastern of San Luis.

Without significant changes, according to the observation of Georgalos Peanut World and other sources, it is suggested that the average yields of the south central region of the central area is around 2,900 kilos of in shell peanuts, with a kernel/pod relation of 65 - 67%.

In general, the weather condition has been positive for a harvest without major difficulties, so that there has been no concern in terms of the quality of the harvested kernels, except for a low kernel/pod relation, as a consequence of the lack of rain in important regions. This affected not only the pod formation, but also fulfillment and maturity of the kernels.
