FEDEFRUTA's Regional Event will take place this Tuesday 24 July, from 14:00, at the Duoc UC Agricultural Technological Centre (Camino Troncal s/n, Paradero 11, San Pedro, Quillota, Chile).
Continuing the series of Fruit Growers' Regional Meetings, FEDEFRUTA, in partnership with Quillota's Growers Association, will organise a number of seminars and talks this Tuesday 24 July, from 14:00, at the Duoc UC Agricultural Technological Centre (Camino Troncal s/n, Paradero 11, San Pedro, Quillota, Chile).
Some of the highlights of the event include the opening and participation of Felipe Martín, Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture's National Irrigation Commission, who will address the situation and prospects for water provision in Chile, giving an account of initiatives currently in place to tackle drought, which has heavily hit agricultural production in the region of Valparaíso.
Additionally, Sergio de La Cuadra, Beekeeping Consultant of Valparaíso's Pontifical Catholic University, will talk about the implications of colony collapse disorder for fruit producers, with a complete overview of this issue which can very strongly affect the pollination services sector.
Moreover, the General Manager of Empresas A.T., Ricardo Ariztía Tagle, will present the "Overview and prospects of the avocado and citrus business", and union ombudsmen Juan Carolus Brown, Vicepresident of FEDEFRUTA and Santiago Matta, President of Quillota's Growers Association, will address the industry's challenges and opportunities and the initiatives being developed in favour of national fruit production.
It is worth noting that the day's activities will start at 10:30 with the workshop: "Everything you need to know about direct exporting but were afraid to ask; understanding the steps and safeguards to follow for a happy ending," which has been sponsored by ProChile and requires advance registration at [email protected]
