Wouter van der Beek puts optical onion sorting line into use

Wouter van der Beek from Tollebeek has as the first in the world put an optical sorting line for onions into use. The machine is being fine-tuned in this period, but the first photographs may be viewed at Boerenbusiness.

The entrepreneur bought another building in Tollebeek last year and he chose to purchase a new sorting line. From that moment on the entrepreneur has concentrated on the possibilities of an optical sorting line.

In cooperation with amongst others Elisan, Elips, ERC and VHM (Van Hees Machinery) a forty meter long optical sorting line was built. The machine sorts the onions on the basis of camera's instead of the human eye. The machine was built with a subsidy of countryside development EU.
