US (CA): Tulare County Crop Report week ending July 14th

Deciduous tree fruits, nuts and grapes: Pistachios continue to be exported to Hong Kong, European Union and India. Almonds are being shipped to the United Kingdom, Korea, China and France. Grape harvest is gaining momentum. A few Flame Seedless and Summer Royal table grapes are being picked, but very few are being exported. Almond and pistachio exports are strong, making way for the 2012 crop. Tulare County stone fruit is still being exported to Mexico, Taiwan, Canada, New Zealand, Guatemala, Brazil and El Salvador. The majority of the stone fruit, however, is going to the strong domestic market.

Citrus, avocados and olives: Valencia orange harvest has slowed. Some oranges are still being exported to Korea. Most packing houses are closed until next season.

Vegetables, melons and berries: Blueberry harvest is nearly finished, but a few export shipments are still moving out of the south county. Squash, eggplant, tomatoes, watermelons and gourds are being harvested. Strawberries and blackberries are being picked, packed and sold at roadside stands. Honeydew melons are beginning to be picked.
