Tomatoes loved in Germany
By now they are arriving nice and sun seasoned on the table: German tomatoes. Tomatoes on the vine, that's what a German consumer likes to eat, but juicy and sweet cherry tomatoes are also loved and therefore end on the second place. Tomatoes are the number one under the vegetables, reports the German Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (AMI) on its website. Each consumer over here eats an average of 10 kg of tomatoes per year.
The open-ground tomato production takes place in Germany from July to October. Some other interesting facts:
Every year in Germany averaged about 600,000 tons of tomatoes sold.
It grew last year in Germany is on approximately 320 acres of tomatoes in greenhouses. The largest area, approximately 70 acres, was in Baden-Wurttemberg.
Tomatoes are especially popular in the warmer months: the type of vegetable is true throughout the year sold, but in the second and third quarters are the sales volume but 30% higher.
