Pakistan: No response from Tehran over import ban

The Ministry of Commerce has taken up the issue surrounding Iran's ban on Pakistan's imports, but the flow of fruit remains restricted.

"The commercial section in Tehran informed this Ministry that the Iranian Government had imposed the ban on import/release of fruits except bananas, on the recommendation of CC Tehran. The Iranian Embassy in Islamabad was also requested through the Foreign Office for timely resolution of the issue.

No responses have yet been received to diplomatic approaches

Pakistani exporters have already lost much trade with Iran through UN and US sanction on trade with Iran. The sanctions have lead to commercial bank in Pakistan being reluctant to issue to relevant export documentation, dramatically reducing export of fruit to Iran.
