According to the Ministry of Agricultural Development Forestry and Fisheries, in 2011 Mexico exported 30,000 tons of banana to different countries and ranks second in production.
He said that the banana importing countries were the United States, England, Holland, Ireland, Belgium and Spain, and elsewhere in the Middle East.
In a statement, the state agency said that in volume of shipping, Tabasco is second in banana production in the country.
Additionally, he said that for pineapple MD2, most is sold to the U.S., it also reached in 2011 the figure of 9,000 tons, up from previous years.
He added that the citrus industry is an activity that has been strengthened, as the marketing of 50,000 tons of U.S. Persian lime, the largest export volume so far of this product, also in 2011.
"The growth of the agribusiness sector is due to work on a tripartite initiative between private producers and the state government, which has invested 56 million dollars in recent years," he explained.
