Netherlands: King of fruits holds court in Rotterdam
The luscious Pakistani mango went on display in the Dutch city of Rotterdam. The 9th annual exhibition of Pakistani mangoes was organised by the Commercial Wing of the Embassy of Pakistan, The Hague, with the support of Pakistan Horticulture Development & Export Company (PHDEC) on Wednesday, July 4th, 2012.
Ten varieties of Pakistani mangoes were displayed at the exhibition. The varieties included Chaunsa, Sindhri, Dusehri, Anwar Retol, Sunehra, Badami, Langra, Fajri and Malda. The mangoes available for tasting. A large number of Dutch buyers of fruit and vegetables visited the exhibition organised as a B2B event. The first session of the exhibition was exclusively for the trade visitors. In the second session, the members of diplomatic corps, functionaries of the Dutch Government and the Dutch consumers visited the exhibition. The participants appreciated the sweet and aromatic fruit from Pakistan.
The Netherlands is the most important market of mangoes in the EU and is indeed a gateway to Europe. The Netherlands is the second largest importer and re-exporter of mangoes in the world.
Mr. Bashir Hussain, Chief Executive Officer PHDEC stated that the Netherlands, constituting 56% of the entire mango import of the Europe, is an important market for Pakistani mango.
