China orders push up Thai longan price
Longan exporters in Soi Dao and Pong Nam Ron districts, two largest longan growing areas in Thailand's eastern Chantaburi province, have, therefore, started purchasing the fruit in advance from local orchards. After concluded deals, the longan exporters received a ticket guaranteeing that the produce will not be sold to others.
The unlimited demand from China has shot up the prices of Thai longan to the three-year peak, with the prices of mixed-size longans having increased to 33-35 baht per kilogramme, from 28-30 baht per kilogramme earlier, and foreseen to even rising to high as 42-45 baht per kilogramme in the near future.
