After two intense days of promotion in Barcelona's Santa Caterina Market, the Association IGP Purple Garlic of Las Pedroñeras has described the promotion held on 29th and 30th of June to promote this unique garlic, a complete success.
Hundreds of people met and tasted the characteristic purple garlic from Las Pedroñeras through succulent 'pa tomàquet amb' tapas. In addition, customers of Santa Caterina, after purchasing this product, took home information about the characteristics of garlic, a garlic peeler, a recipe book and several heads of Purple Garlic of Las Pedroñeras, as a gift.
The promotion was to explain directly to the consumer the peculiarities of the purple garlic of Las Pedroñeras, that also, according to research by the University of Castilla-La Mancha and the Ramon y Cajal Hospital in Madrid, have determined that the application of certain doses of freeze-dried extract of purple garlic, first on laboratory animals and then on patients with prostate cancer, produces a significant decrease in cancer cells.
In addition, these studies indicate that the purple garlic from Las Pedroñeras, thanks to its high content of allicin, anticoagulant properties, antibiotics, reduces blood pressure and acts as a shield against gastric ulcers.
