Netherlands: First experiences with tuberail carts with sun panels

At the beginning of March PB Techniek started using the first tube rail carts with a sun panel. The companies Royal Pride, Kaaij Group, Agro Care and GreenQ have gained the first experiences with this tube rail cart. The quantity of electricity generated by the panel is higher than expected, whilst even during the dark month of March it was not necessary to generate. By means of a data recording attachment the generated electricity and the useage of the cart are recorded and this data is released at a later point in time.

A few disadvantages, which were experienced as well, are being processed at the moment into a possible new development. The panel at the moment for instance delivers too much heat, the panel is rather heavy, which makes the cart less stable as a result. "These two challenges appear to be reasonably easy to rectify and because of the generating capacity we are also looking at other possibilities to equip internal means of transport with a panel," Paul Brabander says.
