Mexican municipality occupies the largest area of forest fruit

Los Reyes is a Mexican town that occupies the largest area for the production of forest fruit with 60% of the 12,000 hectares growing strawberry, blackberry, raspberry and blueberry mainly.

This was made known by sources of the Rural Development Committee, which indicated that while the avocado wins land in the mountains and pays dividends at the expense of severe effects on the ecology, forest fruits have shown that they not only generate dividends for a few, but generate a lot of well paid jobs and do not harm the ecosystem.

In this sense, it was announced that forest fruit as a whole generates around 1.118 million work days per season, so if you set an average wage of 150 pesos per day, we would be talking about an economic impact of about 168 million dollars just for workers.

The sale of the crop generates an economic impact of at least 4 billion pesos in this region of the state, so these crops are being promoted support the economic underpinnings in the field.

Of the forest fruit grown in the region, strawberries are the least exported to other countries, while raspberries and blackberries reach to 90% of exports.
