France: Slight decline in potato area

The area of potatoes in France takes up 113,240 hectares compared to 113,480 hectares in 2011, showing a slight decline of -0.2%. The general decline in the most prominent regions is only partly compensated by other regions. The area in Champagne-Ardennes sees a decline of 4.8%. Centre, with an area increase of 1%, becomes the third region in France as regards the potato production, followed by Nord-Pas de Calais and Picardy. The five main regions take up 86% of the total potato area.
