Spain: Onubafruit raises turnover up to 128 millions
This data strengthens the company's position in the European markets and strengthens the raising tendency since the start, in 2004. All this despite the economic crisis.
The campaign was marked by a 23.49% raise in strawberry production and the fact that Onubafruit managed to keep the price regarding 2011. There was also a 13.46% raise in raspberry production and 47.06% raise in the blueberries production. This cultivation also saw prices go up 32% regarding the previous exercise. As for citrus, Onubafruit raised production by 125% and improved prices by 3%, in comparison with the 2011 campaign.
Francisco Sánchez, manager for Onubafruit, qualified these results as quite satisfactory. "Specially if we account for the economic crisis situation we live in."
To him, the key to success is in the fruit's quality. "Despite the considerable raise in production, we managed better prices because our cooperatives managed an excellent quality, what is quite valued by the market."
Francisco Sánchez also wanted to congratulate every associate of our cooperatives for this successful campaign. "More than thanking them for their effort and work, they are the ones, along with technicians and merchants, that made it possible for Onubafruit to keep improving, year after year."
Onubafruit counts on a yearly production of about 67,000 tons of strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, citrus, khaki and stone fruit. The company takes 55% of the total production of raspberry in Spain. All this thanks to the union between Cobella, Cartayfres, CoopHuelva, Freslucena, Bonafru and S.A.T Condado de Huelva, six of the strongest cooperatives in the Huelva province.
